Red Russian Kale

Red Russian Kale is probably my favourite kale, you will find the smaller leaves in our winter salads, and the bigger leaves in mixed kale  and stir fry bags. It's a vey sweet kale leaf, ranging in colour from light green new growth (as pictured left), through to the dark purple leaves that have had exposure to cold pemperatures.Even my 10 year old eats it straight from the plant (and the only other green things she eats are peas and green smarties!)But I think it really is at it's best now, when a bit of spring warmth encourages the plants to do what comes naturally (produce seeds) and in the process it produce lots of shoots, which are fantastic in stir fries, or very lightly steamed, or just as a snack (the sweet
